Maritime Greenwich is a seat for further and higher
education for about 10,000 students and post-graduates at the University of
Greenwich and Trinity College of Music.
Excellent educational resources and facilities
are available in Greenwich for students of all ages.
If you are a student or teacher of the national
curriculum, you will find Greenwich’s royal and maritime history, its scientific
associations and its classical architecture are a useful reference.
Many visitor attractions in Greenwich provide educational facilities,
with venues for group visits; programmes of courses, seminars and
lectures; printed materials and web-based learning resources. The ‘Learning’ pages
of the National Maritime Museum website contain full information
for teachers arranging school-age visits. Trinity College of Music
has approximately 30 projects running with local schools and community
groups, which makes it possible for Trinity students to visit young
and older people who have little access to music.
Adults wishing to discover more about the sea, ships, time and
the stars can attend the National Maritime Museum’s Open
Museum courses and lectures held throughout the year. The Greenwich
Foundation for the Old Royal Naval College is able to arrange lectures
for parties interested in gaining a deeper insight into the archaeology,
architecture and history of the site and the Royal Parks Agency
has occasional walks and lectures on the flora and fauna in Greenwich
Park.
