in Greenwich |

Entertainment has played
a role in Maritime Greenwich for many centuries.
William Shakespeare appeared before Elizabeth I in Greenwich Palace
and Thomas Tallis, who is buried in St Alfege Church, was Choral
Master to Henry VIII. The theatrical and musical traditions continue
today, as well as numerous festivals, exhibitions and activities
for you to enjoy.
The many events bring a vitality to Greenwich’s architectural
splendours, the buildings often forming a magnificent backdrop
to performances.
Our calendar of events
can help you plan when to make your visit. There are spectacular
performing arts during the Greenwich + Docklands International
Festival, compelling plays and musicals at Greenwich Theatre,
summer concerts and theatricals within Greenwich Park as well
as concerts and recitals by students of Trinity College of Music,
who practise and perform in the Old Royal Naval College. You can
gaze at the sky in the Royal Observatory, watch the London Marathon
or see the Christmas lights illuminate the gifts and delicacies
in the markets and individual shops.
