Air, Light and Water: National Identity in Dutch and Flemish Seascapes (9 July)

Sophie Carr, Curatorial Assistant for the exhibition Turmoil and Tranquillity, will explore Dutch and Flemish national identity in the 17th century. The talk will examine the ways in which paintings of nature reflected the significant and symbiotic relationship between the people of the Low Countries and the sea.

Greenwich Beer and Jazz Festival (16-20 July)

Experience real beer and jazz on a warm summer's day within the scenic grounds of the Old Royal Naval College. Traditional beers and ales, ciders and perrys and country wines from local breweries and microbreweries will be available to taste, accompanied by lunchtime and evening jazz sessions. Lunchtime jazz will run from 13.00 - 16.00 and evening jazz from 19.30 - 22.30 - acts include Zoot Money's Big Roll Band, Gentle Jim McIntosh and the Jazzaholics and the Bootleg Blues Brothers. Organic hot and cold food will also be available.

The acclaimed Rainbow Shakespeare Company returns to Greenwich Park for a fourth year with this classic piece. When a merchant must default on a large loan from an abused Jewish moneylender for a friend with romantic ambitions, the bitterly vengeful creditor demands a gruesome payment instead.
