The last series of
this ever-popular BBC series included a glass vase bought
for a £1 which later sold for £36,000, rare watercolours
by an important American artist found on a tip, and that maquette
of the Angel of the North valued at £1million. So it’s

Black History Month
is an annual event, which has been celebrated across the UK
for over 30 years. Events range from exhibitions, lectures
and workshops that emphasise crucial parts of black and minority
ethnic history, to arts and theatre projects. It’s a

| The Royal Observatory’s Autumn Sky
Watch (16 October) |
Have you ever wondered
what you are seeing in the sky? This evening workshop provides
the answers. It will explore the wonders of the autumn and
early winter skies, as well as providing some tips about the
use of binoculars and small telescopes. The session will include
a planetarium talk, a short seminar and a practical session.

It is winter in a
small town somewhere in Eastern Europe and an unknown enemy
threatens to invade the town and make prisoners of all who
live and work there. In order to ensure their safety two small
children, Hansel and Gretel, are sent into the forest by their
father. As the enemy creep ever closer to the little town
Hansel and Gretel forage deeper into the woods where they
meet an array of exciting and lovable characters.

| Haunted House Family Fun Day (31
October) |
Join in the fun on
the spookiest day of the year at Maritime Greenwich’s
infamously haunted house. The beautiful Queen’s House
will be full of ghostly excitement for all the family with
story-telling, workshops, performances and music. Meet a ghoul,
dress in creepy costume to win a prize and put on your dancing
shoes to take part in the Thriller dance workshops and performances
throughout the day.

| Festival of Time and Space (25 October
- 21 November) |
Trinity College of
Music will be collaborating with the National Maritime Museum
to produce a four-week festival dedicated to ‘Time and
Space’. Launching on Sunday 25 October, the festival
will incorporate a symposium, performances and installations,
community and education events, the annual Greenwich International
Early Music Festival (more details in November Events) and
culminating with an exciting site-specific Opera.
